Meindert Talma - Minna
In the run-up to the European Championship and with the last matches of the Eredivisie on the calendar, Minna , Meindert Talma's third feature film about the most important side issue in the world: football, will be released on May 7 .
With Minna , Meindert completes the trilogy that began with Once Orange in 2012 and of which Balsturig was published in 2019.
The country's most unknown pop star zooms in on Minna on the extraordinary lives of Willem van Hanegem, Memphis Depay, Arjen Robben, Humphrey Mijnals, Frenkie de Jong, Simon Tahamata and Dirk Kuijt, among others. The song about Frenkie will be released as the first single on the eve of El Classico, April 9.
"Why is my 3rd theme record called Minna ? Minna is the title song and the nickname of Humphrey Mijnals; chosen as the best Surinamese footballer of the 20th century and also the first Surinamese in the Dutch National Team. The Mijnals Commission is also named after him, which was established on July 3, 2020 to combat racism and discrimination in football." - Meindert Talma
Accompanying herself on piano and synthesizer, Minna is a dryly comic and sometimes moving musical speech about Dutch football history and yet another proof of Meindert's lonely class.
