The Kevin Costers pick up the thread again. It took almost five years before the Nijmegen/Antwerp band could present the successor to their debut album Come On In (2008): Pick Up The Parts.
After Come On In, The Kevin Costners were already expected to have “a great future in the premier league of Dutch pop”. Pick Up The Parts continues where they left off: flawless pop songs full of catchy melodies. The album will be released on 27 June by Excelsior Recordings. Almost three years after a longlist of twenty songs was decided upon with producer Frans Hagenaars, The Kevin Costners were nodding their heads in satisfaction at the mixing desk of Studio Sound Enterprise Noord. Finally finished!
Because: recording sessions were postponed, canceled, forgotten, you name it. But still, Pick Up The Parts is exactly what it was supposed to be. Pick Up The Parts is about fear, hope, love, growing older and most of all, never giving up.
Pick Up The Parts is a pretty cheerful, catchy indie pop record at first, but after listening a few times it becomes clear that the melancholy seeps through everywhere. The sound of the record has also become warm and organic. Every now and then there are references to classics such as Fleetwood Mac from the time of Rumours or The Beatles. “For me the record has become a monument to continuing,” says singer/guitarist Bouke Zoete. “Don’t give up, just keep doing what you believe in. Because deep down you know for sure that everything will be alright.”
