'I'm not really dead, you know, it's just a body I left behind. I'm only dead when you've forgotten me,' Bram Vermeulen once sang in the song Testament . By referring to this, the best proof has been provided that the legendary Dutch-speaking troubadour lives on in our memories.
Even under the curly head of Thijs Boontjes, who is a great admirer of Vermeulen's repertoire, that memory is cherished. Boontjes finds it a great pity that all those beautiful songs of the singer, who died in 2004, are no longer sung. He wants to do something about that in a theater production that will be entirely dedicated to the works of Bram Vermeulen, who was more than the first artistic partner of Freek de Jonge in the cabaret duo Neerlands Hoop in Bange Dagen .
Boontjes wants to bring songs like Politiek , Pauline and Testament back to the theatres. Because Vermeulen, who firmly believed in reincarnation, is not dead. No, Bram is alive. And Thijs Boontjes is his interpreter.
Although a theatre production is unfortunately not possible at the moment, this CD is now available with the songs of Bram Vermeulen played by Thijs Boontjes.
