Beans & Fatback will release a new album in September; Heroine Lovestruck. For their third album, the band was inspired by Surf Nuggets, obscure Rockabilly, Exotica, Ethio-funk grooves and straight forward high energy Rock & Roll, as evidenced by the first track Sally The Shape.
Beans & Fatback found inspiration for Heroine Lovestruck in Rita Hayworth's role as the classic Femme Fatale in the film Gilda. During the atomic tests on Bikini Atoll (what's in a name?) right after World War II, in one of the most beautiful places on earth, her name and picture were on the most destructive weapon ever made. The theme of beauty and destruction combined with the classic 40s bombshells has become the binding factor of the record.
Heroine Lovestruck was recorded at the Electric Monkey Studios in Amsterdam, where the band had an arsenal of vintage gear at their disposal. Onno Smit & Paul Willemsen produced the record. Tonmeister Peter Schmidt mixed the tracks in Berlin, after which the album went to Nashville to be mastered by Bob Olhsson.
Beans & Fatback presents 'Heroine Lovestruck', in stores from September 11th, on October 1st in Paradiso Amsterdam.
With their previous album, With Skin Attached, Beans & Fatback played to sold-out venues on their Dutch club tour and convinced at festivals such as Lowlands, Zwarte Cross, Where The Wild Things Are, Eurosonic Noorderslag, Welcome To The Village and Oerol. In addition, the music from that album was frequently heard in domestic and foreign films and TV series, such as the Dutch film Soof and American TV and Netflix series Suits, Shameless, Hemlock Grove, Necessary Roughness, Graceland and Parenthood.
