Bertolf - Bluefinger
On Bertolf's new album Bluefinger , the great love for 'bluegrass' is given free rein. The record is a real Bertolf, Bluegrass, Best Of. In other words: Bertolf's best songs in a bluegrass jacket. For the recordings, he went to Nashville to work with the giants of the genre. Who are those seasoned pros on this album? The main man is without a doubt dobro player Jerry Douglas, with whom John Hiatt recently recorded an album. Bertolf also managed to get fiddle player Stuart Duncan on board. He also got double bassist Mark Schatz on board, who was in the band with Bertolf's favorite guitarist, the late Tony Rice. Two youngsters, but at least as virtuoso musicians, Wes Corbett (banjo) and David Benedict (mandolin), completed the band in the studio. Dave Sinko was appointed producer. Bertolf knew him as the revered sound engineer of the legendary Punch Brothers. Three days later the record was finished. Whoever listens to Bluefinger , immediately hears the enormous joy of playing of this dream team of bluegrass musicians. 'Man, I had the best week of my life,' Bertolf summarizes his great adventure. You can hear that.
