Blue Grass Boogiemen - Grassified
The Blue Grass Boogiemen have something to celebrate. For twenty-five years they have been bringing: 'High-energy bluegrass at its finest'. Robert-Jan Kanis (vocals-guitar), Arnold Lasseur (vocals-mandolin-guitar-violin-dobro), Aart Schroevers (vocals-double bass) and Bart van Strien (vocals-banjo-harmonica-violin) have toured not only the Netherlands, but all over Europe and America over the past twenty-five years. They have shared the stages with various greats from bluegrass and country music and have already released four albums. The fact that they have been on the road for twenty-five years naturally calls for something special to celebrate. The choice was made for an album, for which the Boogiemen invited various well-known Dutch colleagues to "bluegrass" their own song. It has become an impressive and eclectic list of guest vocalists, including Freek de Jonge, Tim Knol, Ernst Jansz, Bennie Jolink, Blaudzun and Dave von Raven. A song from each of these artists was chosen and adapted in the inimitable Boogiemen style, which led to extremely captivating results.
From Paradiso to the world's most famous bluegrass club, the Station Inn in Nashville, Tennessee; from the Rodeo Bar in New York to the Continental Club in 'live music capitol of the world' Austin, Texas; they performed there. For 25 years, the Blue Grass Boogiemen have stood for the best that the Netherlands has to offer in terms of authentic roots music. It is not without reason that they were nicknamed the ambassadors of bluegrass.
