Karawane is the new band of Anne Caesar van Wieren that expresses itself in church singing, improvisation that flies in all directions, Indian ragas, whispering songs with chimes to esoteric bass flute solos and cacophony. Karawane is the most famous sound poem of Dadaist Hugo Ball. Anne Caesar chose this name because the poem symbolizes an ultimate freedom for him, something he also aspires to in his music.
Anne was raised very reformed and said goodbye to the church and faith during this period. Songs about bewilderment, anger and bitterness emerged. After this gloomy period, Anne's music suddenly took a turn towards the celebration of creativity and freedom. In the distance you can still hear a hint of farewell on the record, but what mainly dominates is the happiness of making songs about subjects that occupied Anne at that moment. Anne wrote the music on his own and also recorded the album himself. When in 2014 he suddenly realized that the record was finished, he made a selection from the many songs together with Frans Hagenaars and mixed them. Anne asked Ries Doms (The Kik) to play the drums on a number of songs. Anne described the atmosphere of the songs and Ries improvised on it.
During their short existence they played in Berlin at ACUD, Eurosonic, Le mini guess who and in Vera Groningen. They also did the opening act for Deerhoof in Ekko and Rotown and Ela Stiles as part of The Rest Is Noise.
