The Sore Losers - Skydogs
The Sore Losers will release their third album on March 18, 2016 via Excelsior/V2. A first single will be released in mid-February and on April 15, The Sore Losers will introduce SKYDOGS live in the AB in Brussels. The presentation will be in Bitterzoet, Amsterdam on April 20.
The Sore Losers worked for the first time with American producer Dave Cobb, aka “Nashville's Rick Rubin”, according to NPR. Cobb is best known in Europe for his work with Rival Sons and in America he scored his second number 1 album in the Billboard top 200 at the end of last year. Cobb has been nominated for a Grammy in the category Producer of the Year.
The recordings of the new album took place from November 9 to 20 in the Vox-Ton studio in Berlin. Frontman Jan Straetemans: "It all went very fast: writing, recording live and mixing straight away, without hesitation or looking back. Cobb goes for tension and excitement and together we were able to capture the magic of first and second takes on what is without a doubt our most dangerous record ever. For that reason alone, this is the best thing we have ever made."
The sound is classic, distorted and analogue and is entirely at the service of the short, energetic songs, most of which are influenced in both attitude and sound by classic bands such as the MC5, Stooges and Yardbirds.
The release of the third studio album comes two years after the enthusiastically received 'Roslyn' (February 2014), which earned The Sore Losers 2 MIA nominations and concerts at Pukkelpop and Rock Werchter.
The Sore Losers was founded in 2009 and is a 4-piece rock band consisting of Jan Straetemans (vocals/guitar), Cedric Maes (guitar), Kevin Maenen (bass) and Alessio Di Turi (drums). The band takes its name from a shared love for the American cult film of the same name by John M. McCarthy.
