From 20 October to 1 November 2017, Schiedam will be all about Piet Paaltjens. His poetry collection Snikken en Grimlachjes was published 150 years ago by Drukkerij en boekhandel Roelants in Schiedam. Paaltjens is the alter ego of the melancholic poet and preacher François HaverSchmidt (1835-1894). The highlight of the festival is the collaboration with Excelsior Recordings. 11 Dutch artists recorded an album in Schiedam with songs whose lyrics are inspired by poems by Piet Paaltjens. 150 years later, they are breathing new life into the work of Piet Paaltjens. The unique collaboration, the high level of the artists and the special location make the CD exceptional and unique. A one-off limited edition of one of Schiedam's greatest heroes. One thing is certain: Piet Paaltjens lives.
