The Serenes - Barefoot & Pregnant (2LP)
180 gram cool blue double vinyl
The Serenes' debut album - Barefoot And Pregnant - is being re-released. This time on 180 gram cool blue double vinyl and again by the Re-label. The mission that this label has set itself, is to record important episodes from the history of Dutch pop music. Such as Barefoot And Pregnant. The Serenes from Joure were founded in 1988 and were known for their guitar sound and melancholy. Inspiration was drawn from the loneliness that the vast Frisian landscape evokes. In 1990 The Serenes attracted attention with this debut with singles Abiding Place and Rebecca (You're Gonna Be Allright). For Barefoot And Pregnant Theo de Jong (vocals/guitar), Paul Dokter (vocals/guitar), Ale Bosma (bass) and Joan Hooghiemstra (drums) received great reviews and the album ended high in the OOR Top 10 of 1990. In the OOR Millennium list of best Dutch albums between 1990 and 2000 it ended in eleventh place. In 1991 the band received an Edison for the album in the National Pop category.
