Collection: Bertolf

With an intuitive sense of the glory days of pop at his fingertips, Bertolf has been writing three-minute love letters for years. Where some try to summon the Gods, Bertolf does so with his heroes. The innate love for Paul McCartney resonates in everything he makes. But for a lazy repetition exercise, you'll have to knock somewhere else.

After having made many meters in the band of Ilse de Lange and with pop machine Her Majesty, Bertolf continues to work on his own sound. From youthful radio hit Another Day (2009) to the experienced Only Love (2019), a colorful cast of sources of inspiration passes by. Now crooning as Rufus Wainwright. Then again turned inward as Elliott Smith. But always with respect for the craft of the songwriter. The Zilveren Harp (2010) has been forged into a golden pen over the years.

Bertolf now writes from a bike shed. Just like Nick Cave with a lunchbox in his own garden. And then - as Kees van Kooten so beautifully puts it - stay there until it is there. Rock 'n' roll is a matter of patience.
