Collection: Electric Tears
Electric Tears
After playing in punk bands for ten years, ex-Johanman Niels de Wit decided in 2011 that it was time to show his melodic side again. He recruited fellow bartender Bas de Vries and barmaid Els van Tol from his local pub in Hoorn, and after five rehearsals, the first performance took place in that same local pub, closely followed by the self-recorded and released single Bloodshed Eyes / Don't Ask Me Why : two times two minutes of catchy power pop that made many noses turn in their direction and brought about comparisons with Squeeze, Reigning Sound and Sandy Coast.
Electric Tears plays Noorderslag in 2013 and then makes the meters along all stages that are necessary to finally be able to record the debut in the studio of Frans Hagenaars in two days. "Can it be a bit softer?" sounds from the adjacent Excelsior office where the cups of the table vibrate. Yes, it can be softer - as the band shows in the ballads Forget Tomorrow and Blast Away - but for the rest it is hard, fast, short and catchy again; twelve songs in 33:33. Dazzling Highs To Crushing Low is born.
