The pearl Afterpartees formed a few years ago in the most romantic part of Limburg, the municipality of Horst aan de Maas. Driven by their love for energetic 70's punk and heartbreaking power pop, they decided to travel the country as a band, with Iggy Pop, T-Rex and King Tuff in the CD player. Lyrics about failing in the discotheque, tree house building bankers, fashion label Gucci and drowning self-righteous singer-songwriters. That makes the boys happy. On stage they play themselves against the cliffs of hell and outside they are happy to help your mother with the groceries.
Take the joy of your childhood, mix it with the nihilism of your adolescence and you get Afterpartees. Play Glitter Lizard while crying in your car when your girl is gone or laughing in your room when that stupid boyfriend finally leaves you crying.
Frontman Niek Nellen about Glitter Lizard: “I think the record is a mix of elements that we are big fans of: energy, melody, slightly cheesy vocal harmonies, hooks, choruses, everything. I think we mainly made a record that we wanted to hear, but that didn’t exist yet. Just like a glitter lizard, they don’t exist either, and now they do. We are proud.”
