Two souls, one thought. An obvious assumption when you hear the twins Loes and Renee Wijnhoven. That their Dutch-language folk pop, or whatever you want to call it, would match the electro background of producer Arne van Petegem seemed less logical. Yet the similarities quickly came to light in Arne's Antwerp home studio.
The new album 'Aan het licht' is the successor to the debut 'Al zeg ik het zelf' from 2014, with which the twins played at the festivals Noorderslag, Into The Great Wide Open, Oerol, Crossing Border and De Parade. On 'Aan het licht' more Wall Of Sound, more cello, more guitar, but still those beautiful songs. Songs about moving, sleeping, distrust and 'the difficult second'. It didn't get that difficult. Loes and Renee started the experiment, polished and sanded the songs more than ever. The song Geheimen has finally been recorded and Arne's influence is clearly audible with electronic twists on, among others, Leuk voor later and Duitsland.
"This time we really took the time to keep listening and ask ourselves: what needs to be added and what can be removed? The process was very enjoyable. We think you can hear that too. At least we hear it ourselves."
