The New Black And White is the title of the new EP by Danny Vera. In an attempt to give the genre of his music a name, Danny came up with The New Black And White: "Music inspired by the old. Actually like a black/white film that is being made now".

Danny Vera is best known for the minutes of rock 'n roll in programs such as Voetbal International or De Wereld Draait Door, while on all his previous records the subdued numbers play an important role. The New Black And White is released in the run-up to a series of theater shows , where these kinds of songs are specifically featured. Danny: "Now that we're going into the theater, where we're playing these songs, I saw my chance to make a nice fitting picture for it."

Where in the theatre the songs are accompanied by text and explanation, every track on The New Black And White also has a story. "A song like “Bye Bye Eddie” tells the story of my childhood friend Eddie, who lived next door to me until he was eleven and died in a skiing accident.” And Danny previously covered 'All I wanna do is make love to you' by Heart for DWDD's Guilty Pleasures: “This song has such a cool story and I wanted to record it in its entirety, but from a male point of view”. Danny met Kris Berry at that same programme and asked her to sing along on a song by The Everly Brothers.

The album was again recorded under the inspiring leadership of Frans Hagenaars in SSE Noord, but now in the style in which it was also done in the past. "So I was in the same room with Reyer Zwart (bass/piano) and Benny Bakker (drums) without headphones and we really played at each other's volume." For example, the first take of the song 'You', the very first time Danny (guitar) and Reyer (piano) played it together, turned out to be the right one. The EP contains a total of 6 songs. In addition to three of his own tracks and the aforementioned covers of The Everly Brothers and Heart, Danny also recorded his version of Amy Winehouse' Black To Black.
