Danny Vera - The Outsider

After the EPs The New Black and White Vol. 1 and 2 that were released in the past two years, there is now another full-length album by Danny Vera: The Outsider. Once again recorded in Frans Hagenaars' studio, and a fairly up-tempo record for Danny. But according to Danny himself, he remains "a sucker for ballads" and so they are not lacking. It has become an impressive mix of songs about love, life, death and here and there a touch of social criticism. All the songs of The Outsider are self-written, with the exception of one song. "A few years ago I heard a certain Douwe Bob sing on TV and thought, wow!" After a memorable moment together in De Wereld Draait Door, they decided to write a song together: Loving Her Alone, is the beautiful end result.

Influenced by Roy Orbison, Bruce Springsteen, Chris Isaak and Lucinda Williams, Danny Vera bought his first guitar fifteen years ago in New Orleans, a Gretsch '67 Tennessean.
