El Pino & The Volunteers - Wikiwand El Pino & The Volunteers
El Pino and the Volunteers returns six years after the release of the album The Long-lost Art of Becoming Invisible with their third album. Titleless, but full of contrasts. It's not that the band took their time, but life got in the way ; from babies to Oscar nominations and other musical paths that crossed the band from Amsterdam to Vancouver. On February 12th, the third album will finally be released, simply called El Pino and The Volunteers.
'After The Long-lost Art of Becoming Invisible we decided to make time for excursions to come up with new musical ideas', says David Pino. 'Job Roggeveen's Happy Camper for example, which we performed live and which was so well received that it not only resulted in a great tour in the Netherlands and Indonesia, but also an Edison Award and a second Happy Camper record'. In the meantime David Pino recorded an album with Marien Dorleijn (Moss) in a cold Canadian log cabin that was released under the name TIKA, which of course also had to be toured. Jeroen Kleijn toured with Claw Boys Claw and Alex Roeka and there was a Daryll-Ann reunion.
The third album is untitled, but full of contrasts. The songs are about open-mindedness and the loss thereof. About successful and failed love. About chances and missed chances. About nights in the city that should never end and about long roads to escape that same city. About snow-capped mountain tops and islands. About a last chance and a new beginning. About real heroes and people with only a big mouth. About farewell and about welcome.
