Jacco Gardner - Hypnophobia
The meaning of Hypnophobia can refer to a fear of sleeping. But Hoorn baroque pop producer and multi-instrumentalist Jacco Gardner will hypnotize many a listener to a point where dream and reality meet. Hypnophobia is the sequel to the globally acclaimed debut Cabinet of Curiosities from 2013.
Fantasy and reality came together in Gardner's Shadow Shoppe Studio, in the middle of an industrial estate in the village of Zwaag (near Hoorn), where Hypnophobia was recorded in its entirety and Gardner himself plays all the instruments, except the drums. Hypnophobia is a journey of discovery of Gardner's new love of travelling combined with his ongoing passion for collecting and playing old instruments. On the album you can hear a Wurlitzer waltzing next to mellotrons, harpsichords, an Optigan and an antique Steinway piano. A beautiful collection of lush instrumental tracks as well as songs with lyrics that are not inferior to many a pop classic.
