Quartet Niek Hilkmann - A Sign on the Wall

On January 22, 2021, Kwartet Niek Hilkmann will release its debut album ' Een Teken aan de Wand '. Led by Niek Hilkmann, the Rotterdam quartet reflects on this Dutch-language pop album on what cannot be put into words through platitudes, bold statements and filler words. The tragedy of beaten paths and the pleasure behind emotion are taken as seriously as the seriousness of a stale joke and the discomfort of conviviality.

“A sign on the wall is never far away for those who have an eye for it,” says Niek Hilkmann, who recorded the album with a band consisting of his brother and (former) members of Lewsberg and Rats on Rafts.

The result is easy to guess: accessible, authentic songs like ' Turbo Polyp ' and ' Eierschelp', but also songs like ' Raar Gezicht' and ' Zaamslag' .
