Monsieur Paul, Lord Of Bass Thunder, at Belgium's best-dressed rock beast Triggerfinger, also has his own playground. That is Monsieur Paul & The Lowriders. There he likes to let his creative urge be impregnated by an excessive multitude of ideas and influences. He quotes generously. Duane Eddy, early Pink Floyd, Allan Ginsberg, French variety from the 50s and 60s, Allen Toussaint, Dr John's “Gris Gris”, his own steak tartare & chicory soup, T. Rex, Joni Mitchell and Creole cuisine are the sources of inspiration. A healthy-greedy appetite. Because if Monsieur Paul & The Lowriders radiates anything, it is above all the love for music and life in all its glorious, versatile and sometimes messy beauty. That was already clear on the first album Lowrider (2016) and is only more, more and more on the new album Unguarded Thoughts . Because this record contains a wonderful song cycle with an equal amount of heart, soul, honest blues, lucid psychedelics and idiosyncratic life songs.
