Paceshifters celebrate their 15th anniversary this year in Paradiso-Noord on December 29th. And to add luster to this party, new music will be released. The first single Runaway Child will be released on September 30th via Excelsior Recordings. The song is on the EP Where The Rivers Meet that will be released later this year. Digital and on 7" vinyl.

The date of this release did not just come out of the blue. It is a loaded day for the indigenous people in Canada and also for the alternative rock band from Wijhe. It is namely the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada.

The melancholic rock song Runaway Child is about Canadian children who never came home from the 'residential schools'. The purpose of these residential schools was to separate the indigenous youth from their family and culture in order to take away their identity. Many of these children never came home and their parents were told that the children had run away. However, in 2021, a mass grave was found in Kamloops where at least 215 children are buried. The children did not run away, they were murdered. The band has family living in Canada. In Saskatoon but also in Kamloops. Part of that family are Native Americans. And that is why this song on this day. A powerful story wrapped in a rock-solid track.
