Painters, the new album by Teddy's Hit, is an ode to the joy of playing and youth. The accelerated live reputation of the Amsterdam trio made Tim Knol decide to sign the band to his I Love My Label label and release an album. That's how Painters became a fact and the live energy was translated to an album. Teddy's Hit rips, but at the same time lets the listener get lost. Subdued, but full of energy. Melodic and fresh.
From opener Suffer to closer I'm in the Middle of A Muddle, Teddy's Hit manages to hold your attention. That's impressive. Especially with a six-minute long first single like Liquor Juice: a coming-of-age song with a catchy vocal line by singing drummer Kick Kluiving. A song with enough hooks to hang your entire wardrobe on.
For musical help, Teddy's Hit looks for help close to home. The production was partly in the hands of house bassist Casper van der Lans (Homesick, Personal Trainer and Pip Blom). Diederike Smits, mother of drummer Kick, is responsible for the painting on the cover. Painters is a true work of art with brushstrokes of contemporary post-punk and Krautrock, but above all painted with a great love for 90's indie.
