Collection: El Pino & The Volunteers

El Pino and the Volunteers was born in 2001 as a fictional band based on David Pino's graduation project. A few years later, David woke up with a record deal and an Essent award. The harsh reality demanded a musical career. Well, okay then. With a mix of twang, Americana, pop and rock, they quickly found their own signature. The band also turned out to be a breeding ground for talent. Drummer Wouter de Waart ended up with Blaudzun, Harm Goslink Kuiper went solo as Goslink and Job Roggeveen led a double life as Happy Camper. David Pino also went to Canada to work on the TIKA project with Marien Dorleijn (Moss).

Yet each album by El Pino and the Volunteers is a tight collection of songs that can compete with the work of great examples such as Wilco and The Jayhawks. “It's selfish and insane, but I'm on top of everything”. Fortunately, reality always proves stranger than fiction.
