Esther de Jong

In 2015 Esther graduated from the Academy for Pop Culture in Leeuwarden. In a short time she performed at festivals such as Oerol, Incubate, Noorderzon, Solar and Eurosonic. 3voor12 describes her music as minimalistic and very penetrating storytelling. She calls it diary music herself. Esther de Jong's songs are about love, (getting) lost and heartache.

Meters deep there is a very big desire
That it bursts and there I go

Every Orpheus who thinks he can bring Esther up, automatically falls under the spell of all the music and is dragged along, even deeper into her dark world. And that seems to be exactly the intention. A sorrow shared is a sorrow halved. Once he reaches the bottom, the idiosyncratic love potion of influences (Father John Misty, WENDE and Robert Long) turns out to be a grateful fate.
