Hister

A bit strange but tasty, everyone still knows the slogan of a well-known soft drink with a unique taste. You either love it or you don't. Unique is rock duo HISTER too. The combination of drum and bass with lyrics in Groningen is unusual and different. But let that be the intention.

Both members were born and raised in the rich clay of the northernmost province. It turns out to be a fertile soil for the blossoming of a new sound in the Groningen music scene. Early 2022 they enter the rehearsal room with their ideas and then in October of the same year they enter the No Pussy Blues studio to record their debut EP. Don't think, do. Head for it.

Drummer Michel Weber has already earned his stripes in bands like Benjamin B., Audiotransparent and Avery Plains, but in this formation he focuses on lead vocals for the first time. Bassist and singer Merel Weijer has not made much musical progress, but that does not stop her from taking care of the music, lyrics and vocals. Inspiration is drawn from bands like The Breeders, True Widow, Blood Red Shoes and PJ Harvey. They make songs that are both catchy and light-hearted as well as slow, heavy and dreamy. Slowcore meets indie pop. Doomgaze meets pop rock. Just throw something at it. What remains are idiosyncratic but catchy songs. A bit strange but nice.
