zZz
zZz was already making roaring postpunk when roaring postpunk had yet to be reinvented. Somewhere on the scorched earth between Suicide and Squid, zZz is peeing on its territory. With theatre performances, soundtracks, their own festival and especially beastly records, Björn Ottenheim (drums and vocals) and Daan Schinkel (organ, keyboards) are the terror of the Netherlands Musicland.
Spoil the party.
zZz stands for five-star counterculture that is also appreciated far beyond the borders. For example, the Russian Rolling Stone proclaimed the debut The Sound of zZz album of the year, the band played at Glastonbury and songs were used for GTA, the holy grail of game soundtracks. A band to be very proud of, predicted the Volkskrant. And so it happened.
